Ibis Tranny 29"

Ibis Tranny 29"
Why? That’s the question that needs to be asked if you’re thinking about the Ibis Tranny 29”. After all it’s about a pound heavier and a thousand dollars more than a Trek Superfly 9.8 X1 when built up with a similar spec. Good on ya, Superfly. If I want an unapologetic, crazy light 29” race hardtail, I’m coming to you.
And the Tranny can be set up to be that, absolutely. For the money, though, if that’s all you’re looking for…it’s probably not the bike for you.
Ask yourself some questions; Does the option of running a near-silent belt driven transmission appeal to ya? Do you revel in a good old fashioned single speed arse kicking from time to time? Do you get proper-chapped when an airline charges you $100 each way to bring your bike? When it’s not race day, are you keen to swap to a 120mm fork as quickly as your greasy mitts can find their way back to a toolbox? Do you really want the downtube of your ride to have the same word on it as your mates? What you’re paying for with the Tranny 29”, in addition to Ibis’ design aesthetic and attention to detail, are options. If you, sir or mam, fancy yourself a modern day William Wallace, and the only premium you’re willing to fork over your hard earned cash for, is FREEDOM…well then, you’ve come to the right page here.
